The Faith You've Found I've Never Felt

we all said your prayers
whether you wanted us to or not
the preacher man led the songs
and the choir sang them all from heart
like we knew them all from heart
the curtain's closing, but you're not really leaving,
you can't, the sun can set but...

could i sell this procession for one last kiss?
could i leave this reception and see you again?

the funeral procession happened on a sunny day
the kind you used to love
the sun tried, and finally
fought past the clouds

the preacher man said don't,
don't come visit you
because you're not,
not staying here
but it's so hard to drive past and, and, and
and try not to ask

could i sell this feeling for one last kiss?
could i leave this stone and see you again?

so picture me devoid of energy, and all this broken heart
and i keep hearing it might come if i need it
the preacher man wants me to believe it
but this always seemed the one thing we can't avoid

we've got all these broken melodies and children lost for words
and i keep hearing it might come if i need it
the preacher man wants me to believe it
but this always seemed the one thing i can't avoid

but now the choir's staying quiet,
i think the preacher man is tired
does this city ever sleep?
cause i don't, and i don't, and i don't
and i know i can't but...

could i sell this procession for one last kiss?
could i leave this reception and see you again?
could i sell this feeling for one last kiss?
could i leave this stone and see you again?
